Sweet treats

Most of us ladies have a bit of a sweet tooth, although I know some people would prefer to eat crisps than chocolate ... who are these people... anyway here are some little balls of goodness that you can have to satisfy a sweet tooth whilst still giving you body loads of good nutrition.

All you need is a food processor and they are really easy to make - I made them for the Zesties at our special bank holiday bootcamp, I made the recipe up so hopefully it will work just as well for you! You can buy most ingredients in a health food shop or online here if you don't find them in your supermarket.

  • 1 cup nuts - I used half walnuts and pecans

  • 2 cups dried cranberries ( tastes like Christmas) could used dried apricots

  • 1/2 cup (raw) cacao powder

  • 1/2 cup cacao nibs add some crunch

  • Sweeten to taste with agave, honey or sweet freedom (I used couple tablespoons of sweet freedom)

  • 2-3 tablespoons water

  • Cinnamon and/or orange essence to taste

Blend main ingredients and then add water to create right consistently so can roll into balls.

These gluten and dairy free balls are vegan and contain good fat and protein from the nuts, magnesium from the cacao powder, lots of fibre and taste delicious. Your kids might enjoy them too instead of processed, sugar laden junk that is hard to resist in the shops.

Coat in sesame seeds, ground flaxseed or cinnamon and store in fridge or freezer - perfect with a cuppa when a guest pops around so you don’t “need” to keep biscuits in the house with the excuse of needing to have something to offer someone.
